Luis Miguel Méndez

Luis Miguel Méndez was born in Pontevedra in 1983, where he studied clarinet. He was part of the Young Orchestra of the Galician Symphony, Young National Orchestra of Spain, European Youth Orchestra, Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra.

He worked together with the Arnold Schoenberg Quartet, Music Master Course in Kazusa (Japan), Malasyan Philarmonic, Janacek Philarmonic, Bruxelles Philarmonique.

He won prizes at International Competition in Xátiva, Young Spanish Music Company, International Clarinet Competition in Ghent (Belgium).

He worked close with great musicians such as Gustavo Núñez (Amsterdam Concertgebouw), Radovan Vlatkovic, Indira Koch, Stefan Dohr (Berliner Philharmoniker), Michael Gilbert (New York Philharmonic) and mostly with Walter Boeykens.

He also worked with Marc Albrecht, Lutz Kohler, Pinchas Steinberg, Marc Minkovsky, Nicola Luisotti, Jesús López Cobos, Riccardo Muti, Marco Armiliato, James Conlon, Dan Ettinger, Jeffrey Tate e Semyon Bychkov.

From 2003 he is soloist clarinet in the Madrid Symphony Orchestra.

He was Assistant Conductir at the Orchestra of the Estremadura and of the Youth Orchestra of Spain in 2019.

He conducted the Oviedo Filarmonía, National Orchestra of Spain, Madrid Symphony Orchestra. Orchestra of the Estremadura, Navarra Symphony Orchestra.
