Sergio Escobar

Tenor

Born in Toledo (Spain), Sergio Escobar started his musical training at the Conservatory “Arturo Soria” and at the “Escuela Superior de Canto“ in Madrid.
He has done many Master Classes with artists such as Jaime Aragall, Francisco Ortiz, Montserrat Caballé, Teresa Berganza , Viorica Cortez, and Raina Kabaivanska. In 2012 he won three International Competitions: the First Prize at the International Singing Competition “Ciudad de Logroño”(Spain),  2nd Prize Competition Monserrat Caballé (Zaragoza-Spain) and  2nd Prize “International Competition Bilbao” (Spain). As the protagonist in the opera Don Carlo  he had great success at the Teatro Luciano Pavarotti in Modena and Piacenza, opposite Giacomo Prestia, staged by Joseph Franconi Lee and under the baton of Fabrizio Ventura (October 2012). In 2013 he sang Corrado –Il Corsaro – conducted  by Gianluigi Gelmetti at the Teatro Verdi di Trieste. He made his debut at Teatro Regio di Parma in Nabucco (Ismaele) conducted by Mº Renato Palumbo and at Teatro Comunale di Bologna in Norma (Pollione) and Nabucco under the baton of Mº Michele Mariotti. In 2014 he sang Il Trovatore (Manrico) at the Opera de Sao Paulo (Brazil), Donizetti’s Poliuto at Teatro San Carlo in Lisbon, Attila at Teatro Verdi di Trieste conducted by Maestro Donato Renzetti, Aida in Macerata opposite Fiorenza Cedolins and Sonia Ganassi. Cavalleria Rusticana in Florence, Don Carlo in Tokyo (New National Theater), Norma (Pollione) at Teatro de la Maestranza de Sevilla, Tosca opposite Carlos Álvarez in Cordoba (Spain), La Dogaresa at Teatro de la Zarzuela in Madrid, Madama Butterfly in Holland, Nabucco in Oviedo, Un Ballo in Maschera in Italy. In 2016 he sang : Don Carlo (Protagonist) opposite Tamara Wilson conducted by Renato Balsadonna and Oberto, Conte di San Bonifacio opposite Maria Agresta conducted by Jader Bignamini in Oper Franckfurt . He has played at Teatro Verdi di Trieste as Pollione (Norma) opposite Marina Rebeka under the baton of Fabrizio Maria Carminati and at Teatro Colón –Bogotá Colombia debuting with extraordinary success Macduff in Verdi’s Macbeth, opposite DimitraTheodossiou and Vladimir Stoyanov conducted by Pietro Rizzo and staged by Ignacio Garcia, La Marcenera at Teatro Campoamor opposite Carlos Alvarez .He had been Pinkerton’s“cover”in Madama Butterfly at Teatro Alla Scala di Milano conducted by Riccardo Chailly, and Don Carlo conducted by Myung-Whun Chung in february 2017, after which he  sang Attila (Foresto) at the Pavarotti Theatre in Modena. In May he has done his debut at Maggio Musicale Fionentino singing Don Carlo conducted byZubin Metha and in June has made his debut in Russia singing Cavalleria Rusticana in St. Petersburg conducted by Marco Guidarini. In October 2017 he sang Radames in Aida at Teatro Comunale di Bologna conducted by Fèdèric Chaslin. In 2018 he made his debut in the role of Don José in Carmen at Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino conducted by Ryan McAdams. He sang Gabriele Adorno in Simon Boccanegra at the Budapest Opera and at the Teatro Comunale in Bologna, Norma in Mallorca with Yolanda Auyanet. He made his debut in Ireland in Wexford Festival singing the roles of Vito in Giordano’s Mala Vita and San Lui in Leoni’s L’oracolo. In November 2018  he made his debut in Seoul Arts Centre in South Korea singing Edgardo in Lucia di Lammermoor, then sang Madama Butterfly in Amsterdam, Macbeth at Staatsoper in Berlin, Don Carlo at Teatro Real De Madrid.
He sang Cavalleria Rusticana and Adriana Lecouvreur in Las Palmas.
